March to STOP Sexual Violence

“You can’t understand another person’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Walk a Mile in Her Shoes?

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an annual march for our non-profit agency Voice of Hope: Rape Crisis Center. It is a dramatic opportunity to raise awareness in your community about the serious causes, effects, and remediations to sexualized violence. Men have the option to walk in women’s high-heeled shoes to actively confront gender stereotypes and expectations.

Is the march for men only?

Absolutely not!! BOTH Men & women are more than welcomed and encouraged to register for the march.

Do I have to wear the red heels to participate?

No, wear whatever is most comfortable for you! No heels are required to show your support! Heels are provided with registration if desired. We always love seeing men attempt to walk in the heels!

When and where is Walk a Mile?

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes 2023 is scheduled for Saturday April 29th. Registration starts at 12pm with the walk starting at 1pm.  We are meeting at Safety City at Clapp Park in Lubbock. Join us as we march to end sexual violence in our community! Both men and women are invited to march. Red high heels are available for those who wish to wear them during the walk. There will be fun and food for the entire family so stay tuned when registration opens early March 2023!
